Biography
Andrew Marsden graduated with an Honours degree in Business from Bradford where he received a scholarship in accountancy. He holds an Honorary Doctorate from Anglia Ruskin.
Andrew began his career as a Unilever Trainee. In his 15 years with them he worked widely across their food portfolio.
After Unilever he joined Freudenberg Vileda becoming Managing Director achieving a profit turnaround for the business.
In 1994 he joined HP Foods as Marketing Director and successfully drove the traditional sauce brands of HP and Lea & Perrins into significant growth.
He joined Britvic Soft Drinks in 1997 as Marketing Director, became Category Director in 2000 and was part of the team that floated the business on the LSE in December 2005 with an enterprise value of some £800m.
At Britvic Andrew was responsible for technical and consumer innovation, insight, brand management, category management, corporate communications and corporate services.
He led a team of 150 responsible for high profile brands like Robinsons, Tango, Pepsi, 7UP, J2O, Britvic and Purdeys amongst others, and was credited with a string of innovations including J2O and the Fruit Shoot range of juices and waters which have a retail value of over £300m.
In his career Andrew has been presented with several high profile awards for innovation and creativity including Gold Lions, Gold EFSP’s, Aerials and APG’s.
He is a past winner of the prestigious MCCA Client of the Year award, and was recognised as The Daily Telegraph Jaeger Le Coultre Marketing Director of the Year in 2004.
Andrew has a significant record of professional and industry involvement.
He is a Chartered Marketer and a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Marketing. He is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Marketors, and a Fellow and former Chairman of The Institute of Sales Promotion. He is a Senator of The International Junior Chamber of Commerce and a Fellow of The Royal Society of Arts.
In 2006 Andrew was appointed as President of The Marketing Society.
Andrew is a former Chairman of The Executive Committee and is a member of the Council of The Incorporated Society of British Advertisers.
Previously Andrew served on The Governmental Advisory Committee on Advertising from 2002 to 2008. He is a former member of both The Broadcast Committee of Advertising Practice and of The Audit Bureau of Circulations.
In 2007 Andrew was appointed as Non Executive Chairman of The Advertising Standards Authority Working Groups for both the Broadcast and Non-Broadcast Code Review
He is a Freeman of the cities of London and Glasgow.
